I am so disappointed you are skipping Jacksonville FL this year. Please, please, please come back to Jacksonville next year!!! Regretfully my wife couldn’t attend she was with our grandson.I have gone to the show the last 3 years in a row and it’s always packed. Today I enjoyed the concert in Sagamihara Japan with my daughter who is 14 years old. However I did bring the two neighbor ladies with me that just had a blast. The highlights for me were Maria’s emotional and lyrical “Body and Soul”, “Mission to Moscow” which really cooked but still swung at that fast tempo and when Nick dedicated “In the Mood” to the veteran of Normandy who was celebrating his 100th birthday.
We felt that there could have at least been a backdrop curtain with for example stars or stars and stripes anything to dress it up a bit.
The dancers and singers could have had spot lights on them as could the soloists in the band but there was nothing – all in all the MC/conductor and the stage appeared dull and lackluster. Hello, I am reaching out because I found your website because of my music appreciation class and I’m interested in the Orchestra.
I attended the WW2 ball in Boulder CO featuring the GMO.
The thing that impressed me the most was the energy and 150% effort that Nick gave.
Can you email me her name and does she have any recordings available? He is forgetful at times but remembers every word to the songs.
Just want to thank everyone concerned for such a wonderful afternoon of music at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre. I saw him sobbing with joy 3 times during the show. The music you all play has a very relaxing tone, which is one of my favorite types of music. I just wanted to say again ever since I’ve seen your concert on June 22nd I’ve been even more amazed with Big Band music, Swing, etc.The different combinations of instruments make the music soothing to the ear. And I realize that not many young people enjoy this kind of music, but let me say I will never EVER forget you guys !I am so happy I was able to see my all time FAVORITE jazz band live 🙂 I may have been the only 17 year old in the audience but I didn’t care- In The Mood was my absolute favorite song and I am so excited I got to see you guys play!I even got to talk to the trombone section (my instrument also). For those of us who love the sounds of the Big Band Era, your shows are always a treat. It was a very exciting and inspirational experience and I will be definitely be attending another one soon 🙂It was a real treat listening to your performance on Sept. It brought back memories of that big band sound in the 30’s & 40’s. Best wishes and much continued success.performance. He has always been a big fan of Glenn Miller and Jimmy Dorsey.
